About

Hello, my name is Stephanie and I am the

founder of the Kindness Experiment. I wanted

to find a way to pay back all of the kindnesses

I received over my lifetime. The idea of

showing kindness in any form to another

person "just because" is the bedrock

of this project.  The Kindness Experiment

began in May of 2021.  My goal was find others

who were doing random and intentional acts

of kindness every day.

I know what it means to be shown kindness,

many times when I really didn’t deserve it, but when

desperately needed it.  This project is a small step toward repaying those

kindnesses that I have received over the years.  Being kind almost always means so little to the giver and always means everything to the receiver. In a lot of ways, I hope the Kindness Experiment will evolve into an organization that not only focuses on kindness, but also one that brings people together to support, encourage, and substantiate individuals and projects that will bring more kindness into the world.  This project was formed to show our communities that kindness matters by performing random and intentional acts of kindness wherever we find a need.  We do this in several ways.

We started by finding others who have performed any act of kindness to another.  At the end of the month, those people are put into a drawing and a winner is chosen.  The winner receives a specially picked gift from me that they can enjoy.  To date, we have given out hundreds of dollars in thank you gifts to those who have stepped up to perform acts of kindness across America.  The best part of this program is that kind acts can be performed by anyone! I have found kindness partners across this country who are male, female, young, and old.  There is no restriction on who can be kind!

In the fall of 2021, the Kindness Experiment moved into another phase of its mission to spread kindness.  We purchased $10 gift cards and handed them out to random people who look like they could use a pick me up.  We’ve always found people who have forgotten their lunch, people who lost track of themselves in the craziness of their day, and people who are just having a bad day. Every time, we are told that they intend to pay it forward to someone else who might need a pick me up to brighten their day.  That is what the notion of “kindness matters” is all about.

Whether it is giving someone your smile, holding a door, buying someone lunch, or helping to pay a bill, there are so many ways to be kind!
